DAY 10 | The Holy God

But the Lord Almighty will be honored when He judges. Ha-El Hakkadosh (The Holy God) will show Himself to be holy when He does what is right.

PRAYER

I praise You for You alone are Holy. All the angels praise You day and night, repeating "Holy, Holy, Holy." Your holiness permeates everything You touch.

I am grateful for the cross of Jesus which allows me to stand before Your throne unashamed. Thank You for setting me apart as Your holy nation.

Forgive me for sinning against You, unintentionally or deliberately. Forgive me for adopting worldly standards, becoming insensitive to the weightiness of sins, and being unaware of the ways I have offended You.

Reveal to me the grandeur of Your holiness, do not let it drive me away, but instead draw me into Your presence so that I can be sanctified. Grant me the joy of pursuing the Holy One.

Because You are Holy, I declare I am set apart, made holy, and blameless before You. I can walk in holiness.

A few facts…

  • Ha-El Hakkadosh (הָאֵל הַקָּדוֹשׁ) is translated in English Bible as "The Holy God" or "God the Holy One”.

  • The term Ha-El Hakkadosh finds its roots in the Hebrew kadosh or qadowsh (קָדוֹשׁ), meaning "cut" or "set apart." Holiness signifies being severed, set apart, or distinguished from everything else.

  • God is holy. It means that He is “set apart” from His creation in purity and power.

  • We are holy. It means that we have been “set apart” by God's grace for His honorable purpose.

SMILE & BREATHE

Find a quiet place. If necessary, use earplugs and music to block out noise. Sit up straight, relax your neck and shoulders.

Smile, for you do not belong to this world; you are holy, chosen, and set apart by Him.

Inhale deeply through your nose, filling your lungs with air. Imagine yourself in His presence, surrounded by His holy glory.

Hold your breath for a few seconds, focusing on His holiness. He is absolutely flawless and perfect, and nothing can tarnish Him; indeed, He is incomparable.

Exhale slightly longer than your inhale, slowly releasing all the air. Let go of any feelings of guilt or shame you may face, and give them all to Him.

Repeat these steps as needed to help you relax and prepare for the next section.

Exercise 1:

TWO-WAY JOURNALING

Many of us get so preoccupied and absorbed in the details of life. If left unchecked, we may crowd Him out of our busy lives. Today, we choose to make space and time to interact with Him; it will certainly bring joy and satisfaction to Him and to ourselves.

In the form of a letter, write to the Holy God in your journal. Let’s pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and see if there is anything He wants to bring to your attention today. Take time to listen to His response, He certainly wants you to understand His heart. Pen down your dialogue with Him.

[Part 1]

Dear Father / the Holy God, …

[Part 2]

Dear child / (your name), …

  • • tell Him what you think of His Holiness

    • if it is His holiness that makes you feel uneasy, ashamed or intimidated, take this opportunity to talk to Him about it

    • if you’ve been struggling to be holy in His or others’ eyes, you may write about these struggles

    • ask Him what specific purpose He has set you apart for

check out APPENDIX 2 for more.

Exercise 2:

DECLARATION

He is the Holy God. God is transcendentally set apart from His creation. He is in a class by Himself. How does His holiness impact the way you live? Write a personalized declaration.

Because You are the Holy God, I declare I can / I will / I am…

Speak your declaration aloud to Him and yourself, for it solidifies the truth in your heart. Repeat it a few times, engaging not only your facial muscles and vocal cords but also your faith as you declare. Never underestimate the power of your words, as your declarations have the potential to shape your new reality.

Day 10 of HE concludes, marking one-third of our journey. Today I earnestly pray that you'll always remember that your holiness stems from the One to whom you belong.
